CE fortnightly message

Kia ora koutou,

This week it is my pleasure to welcome Mei, Nicole and Carolyn to the PNZ team. Mei is our new Communications and Marketing Advisor, Nicole is our Business Operations Support, and Carolyn is our senior Strategic Communications Advisor.

These three talented folks have joined to reinforce our renewed strategy and help position PNZ for greater impact for our members, and our mission of celebrating and growing effective giving in Aotearoa New Zealand. I’m sure you’ll all have the opportunity to meet them over the course of the coming weeks and months. For those in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Carolyn and I look forward to meeting you in person at the next Funders Network meeting on the 5th of June.

This week saw the release of our latest Philanthropy News edition - Funding our Planet’s Future. Here is a link to it https://philanthropy.org.nz/news/https/philanthropyorgnz/magazine-philanthropy-news. Please share widely throughout your networks, and feedback is very much appreciated. I hope you’ll enjoy the renewed design and feel of the magazine, as well as the content we’ve accumulated within it.

Next week I’ll be in Ōtautahi Christchurch on the 23rd and 24th of May. Really looking forward to meeting with members there. Please be in touch if you’re unsure of the events planned and want to be included. I’m also the process of organising a trip to visit Hawkes Bay members on the 4th and 5th of July, as well as in Waikato on the 25th and 26th of July.  These gatherings are an opportunity to celebrate the impact philanthropy makes to your local community, and to reflect and engage on how we might further lift the work we do. It’s also a chance for me to meet you in person (as promised!) and hear what more PNZ can do together with you.

Lastly, thank you to the Community Trusts Chairs and CEs for inviting me to your meeting in Wellington. It was a pleasure to meet you, and to share my initial thoughts on our sector, our challenges and our opportunities as I’ve observed them since my recent start in my role, and to hear your perspectives on the current state and road ahead in Aotearoa New Zealand. It’s clear to me that whilst we have unprecedented challenges before us, we also have outstanding people working in our sector, doing incredible work.

Ngā manaakitanga,

Rahul Watson Govindan
