Philanthropy Summit 2021

February 11, 2021

We are excited to announce that we have launched the programme and opened registrations for the Philanthropy Summit 2021!

The programme is jam packed with relevant and inspiring topics for those in the philanthropic and grantmaking space.

The theme is Amplifying community aspirations – Te whakarahinga wawata ā-hapori.

Hear thought leaders, strategists and practitioners discuss how funders can contribute beyond money in an increasingly integrated world. Explore the implications of our bicultural foundation; and how funders can support sustainable and inclusive communities for Aotearoa to prosper. Discuss the common opportunities and issues affecting philanthropists and grantmakers and be part of progressing the system supports needed for great giving.

Keep an eye out in coming weeks as we announce speakers from Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

You can now register at our early bird prices. Our conference will be available to more people this year as we have both a package for funders and an option for anyone who wants to be inspired by our keynote speakers.

Join us on 18 – 20 May to gain practical tools, learn best-practice and explore brave new ideas to support impactful and long-term positive change.

Save the date for the Philanthropy Summit 2021 on the 18 – 20 May.

Join our biennial Summit to get informed and be inspired to take more action to amplify community aspirations.

Summit 2021 will take place over three part-days with online and place-based gatherings.

Day one: Theme: Amplifying impact – Te whakarahinga pānga

You can enjoy the first day of Summit 2021 at a regional meet up or you can join us online. We have confirmed regional meet ups in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Day one will look at how funders can contribute beyond money in an increasingly integrated world. International and local keynotes will talk about the value they add to their mission through a variety of activities.

Interactive breakouts will dig deeper into ways funders can make a difference including: impact investment; social procurement; governance and advocacy.

Day two: Reimagining communities – Te whai whakaaro anō ki ngā hapori

Online only

Keynote speakers will discuss the implications of our bicultural foundation; and how we can support sustainable and inclusive communities for Aotearoa to prosper?

Our breakouts will support funders to better understand and engage with Te Ao Māori; as well as hear from community voices on their aspirations and ways funders can help.

Day three: Aspiring together – Te wawata ngātahi

Online only

We will discuss opportunities and issues affecting us all, and how to progress the system supports needed for great giving. The breakouts will canvas topics like: data and evaluation; how to make seeking funding easier; preparing for and responding to crisis; and supporting a sustainable planet.

We’ll wrap up with an inspirational keynote speaker on a vision of a world where philanthropy and grantmaking as we know it is no longer needed.

Registrations will open soon! Keep an eye on www.philanthropy.org.nz for more details.

What you need to know

The biennial Philanthropy Summit is New Zealand Philanthropy’s premier event, offering speakers to inspire and inform you in your work.

It’s an opportunity for funders from around Aotearoa New Zealand and across the Pacific to join in an exciting three days of knowledge sharing as we look at philanthropy in a changing world.  We’ll look at how we fund differently, how we adapt quickly and how we maintain what is good among the shifting winds of change.

Given the uncertainties regarding Covid-19 we will enable both online attendance, and place-based gatherings hosted by some of our members on the first day.

How will the Summit be run in 2021?
The Summit will run for three half days over the 18 – 20 May 2021.

We will enable both online attendance, and place-based gatherings hosted by some of our members on the first day. This will allow some face to face networking time while remaining within all but the highest of Covid-19 restriction levels.

All of our content is available online.  There will also be great opportunities to learn alongside your colleagues virtually on days two and three, with keynotes and breakouts for you to view at home, your desk or even in your trust board room with your team.  You’ll also have content available to view for weeks after the event!

When can I register?
We’ll be launching registrations in early November so keep your eyes on your inbox! Please note that Philanthropy Awards will be hosted separately from the Summit next year and will be held in August 2021.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and with your input we hope to create an inspiring Summit 2021 experience for our members!
