CE fortnightly message

Kia ora koutou,

Like many of you, it’s been a busy start to the year and when busy, time flies. I can’t believe it’s May! There are a lot of things on my mind to share – here’s a snippet below, and as ever if any of these topics spark an interest in you, get in touch and let’s chat.

The government yesterday released it’s six priorities for the education sector.  All of those are areas of interest to our members, so I’m keen to chat to any of you regarding these. I note, again, the focus on the “greater use of data”.

  • The Treaty of Waitangi principles bill is due to be read in the house in the month of May. Over the last few months a number of members have spoken to me about what the position of PNZ is with regard to ‘Te Tiriti and Philanthropy’, and shared a number of views. If this is of interest to you, please be in touch. I am putting together a public statement from PNZ with regard to this. Secondly, we’ve formed a new PNZ network – the Philanthropy and Te Tiriti network. It is open to all members interested discussing all issues and topics concerning Te Tiriti, specifically with our philanthropic hats on. Get in touch with Gin to learn more.

  • This week I’m looking forward to meeting with the Community Trusts CEs and Chairs at their hui in Wellington. There’s much to discuss, and I’m keen to understand where best PNZ can be of service.

  •  Lastly visits – I’ll be in Christchurch over May 23rd and 24th. Thank you to Rata for hosting on the 23rd and Steven Moe for hosting an event on the 24th. I have plenty of gaps in my diary still, so very keen to meet as many Christchurch based members as possible while there. Gin (our member engagement lead) will also be coming with me.
