Ten reasons to be part of The Philanthropy Conference 2023

The Philanthropy Conference is just weeks away. If you, your colleagues and trustees are not already booked, register now to claim your space.

  1. It’s designed JUST FOR YOU. The entire programme has been suggested by and curated for philanthropists and grantmakers in Aotearoa New Zealand. Therefore, it contains the most relevant topics and speakers for all funders – like climate change and getting ready to fund after a major event.

  1. It’s for EVERYONE in your funding organisation. We’ve developed the content so there’s something for grant assessors, for community outreach staff, for leadership and for trustees. There’s a wide variety of topics to suit the different types of funders in Aotearoa New Zealand.

  1. There’s HEAPS ON OFFER. There are just over 35 different events, including keynote talks, breakfasts, social events, and breakout sessions to attend and choose from.

  1. It’s the BIGGEST GET TOGETHER of funders in Aotearoa. We expect an audience of up to 500. Given the limited space, only funders are automatically eligible to attend. There are a small number of invited attendees who are not philanthropists or grantmakers. These include speakers and community sector representatives.

  1. It’ll BE FUN AND UPLIFTING! We know philanthropists and grantmakers are working to alleviate or prevent some of our country’s most serious issues; and maximise innovation and potential. It’s been a tough few years, so we want to make sure you are looked after, you have fun and leave inspired.

  1. It’ll be CHALLENGING AND PRACTICAL. As above, we’ve got some big social, environmental and economic issues to deal with. So prepare to be constructively challenged as to how you can make an even bigger difference. You’ll be given helpful support, tools, tips, connections and resources.

  1. We’ll be CELEBRATING the contribution you’re making every day to communities and our country through how you invest, how you donate, and the value you add on top of that. Our country would be a less vibrant and more inequitable society without the work of community organisations. Philanthropists and grantmakers are significant enablers of the essential and positive services community groups deliver.

  1. Be part of the CONVERSATION. There’s a number of key topics that groups in the funding system are connecting on to progress. These range from equity, more support for Māori aspirations, impact measurement, making fundseeking easier for community organisations, taking climate action, impact investing, disaster funding, AI and technology, governance trends – the list goes on! You’ll hear about best practice, learnings and where collaborative energy is being directed to important areas.

  1. CONNECT AND ENGAGE. Find your like minds at the conference. Be welcomed into collaborative networks and conversations to supercharge the impact you can have, and gain support for tackling challenging areas of your practice. If you’re worrying about it, or maybe dreaming big, the chances are someone else at the conference has done some thinking in that space, can partner with you, or give you the encouragement you need!

  1. We want to SEE YOU! PNZ, your peak body, exists to support you through our aims of inspiring giving; enabling positive change and strengthening the funding ecosystem. The PNZ team is looking forward to connecting face to face. See you there!
