CE fortnightly message October 31
Kia ora koutou,
I’m pleased to announce that our latest issue of Philanthropy News, Issue 92, titled "Creating and Measuring Social Impact," is now available.
This edition explores various approaches to assessing philanthropic impact, highlighting what assessment can achieve and the challenges it faces. It includes a series of questions to consider as we navigate our philanthropic efforts. Some articles address the inherent limitations of understanding how funders’ contributions are making a difference. You'll also find thoughtful opinion pieces designed to inspire and reflect.
I hope you enjoy reading this edition, and I extend my thanks to the writers for contributing to our collective wisdom on this important topic.
I recently also attended the annual conference for Community Foundations Aotearoa held in Christchurch, where I had the opportunity to meet the wider CF whanau. Some fantastic presentations, and really useful conversations. Some great energy in the room, great people involved and a tremendous future ahead. Really keen to support this and partner in this growth in our philanthropic community.
As the year winds down (I also spied Christmas items already being stocked at my local supermarket!), I’m feeling reflective after coming up to one year in the role of CE. I’ve learned a lot, observed a lot, met so many incredible people and filled my kete. There’s so much transformation ahead for PNZ and also for our sector, and I’m looking forward to setting up for success. Keen to hear from members who want to help shape this - some have already been in touch - and build priorities together for 2025 and beyond.
Lastly, keep an eye out for our formal invite to the AGM on 3rd December this year.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Rahul Watson Govindan
